Intel MPI provides support for Intel(c) Xeon Phi(tm) so there isn't much visible cooperation with Nvidia beyond agreement on future OpenMP standards.

Thanks for the reply. We have MPI users which would like to get the best out of GPU-direct, as they are emplying GPUs with their real-time numerical simulation and visualization code. They have been asking to use MVAPICH2, which would be the only choice, if IntelMPI cannot leverage the GPU-direct functionality accessible via Mellanox h/w. 

At the same time the more general question arose as to whether IntelMPI can leverage the "nice" H/W offloading or specialized assistance for MPI over Mellanox IB.

I am sure that IntelMPI will be the place to look first to make MPI code MIC enabled.
